THROWBACK THURSDAY/VINTAGE ITEM-SUICIDE

TODAY IS THROWBACK THURSDAY....That means, if your involved in the internet, or social media such as the FBI (thats FaceBook +Instagram) then you know, Thursday is #TBT or #ThrowbackThursday...Its when everyone, posts pics of them, their friends, their clothes, what was hot, who was hot, famous folk, the hot sneakers from Back in the day....back in the day meaning years to a year ago. I have posted pics of myself from back in the day. People have seen the changes in my face, hair,even my weight from back then. Thing that remained the same, was my fashion sense. My Love for the Ralph Lauren POLO brand. I rocked it, in High school, because, hey, thats what Fly people wore. I wasn't an athlete, I wasn't a pretty boy, I didn't make it to class clown status, (yet) There were Decepts and Lo Lifes, and I knew both. Both were cool crews. I just didn't wanna get jumped in by a bunch of dudes, who I would later call my 'friends' to be with Decepts, So I insisted on wearing the POLO like the LO LIFES...I didn't boost much, and I didn't live or hang out in Marcus Garvey Village (Brownsville) or on St Johns & Utica (Crown heights) ***people who know LO LIFE history know what these places are**** However, I managed to do a deal here, deal there, snatch this, steal that, buy this, buy that, to get my POLO collection big.

Now POLO is a Sport, thats played on top of horses. Polo, the brand, celebrates other sports as well. From fishing, to hunting, football, hockey, tennis, golf and Skiing. I think, next to the 'man on top of the horse' aka the polo player symbol, the Downhill ski man is one of the most recognizable symbols from the Polo line. Dubbed the 'suicide' (Because if you had one, chances were, you would be hurt, or killed in a robbery attempt, it was like pure suicide wearin one)If you never seen it, or seen it and did not KNOW what you ere looking at, its just the silhouette of a man going downhill skiing, with some stars & stripes in the back of him (Ralph is big on that American Patriotism)I remember seeing the skiman like in 89/90. Right about winter. First thing I saw was the the down coat, with the symbol on back, then came matching sweatshirts, turtlenecks, sweaters, polos, long sleeve tees, they made coats with the skiman patch on the arm and made a matching wool sweater (we call em knits) . Some coats, had matching sweatShirts. Even if you didn't have the Big skiman on the back of your coat, or the front of your shirt, you had a sweatshirt, a knit, a turtleneck...If you were a polo collector/rocker, you had SUMTHING suicide...It was a real nice symbol/patch/piece...

Fast forward now, a suicide ANYTHING would fetch some big bucks on ebay. Its just how it is. Vintage is in. Whats old is new. Now there are a bunch of newer, younger gear heads, who were too young, or not even around to remember and be a part of that glorious time in fashion. So, older pics, from older cousins, friends, brothers, hell even their Fathers (and mothers) show them how it was done, and they run with it. Then you have some young dudes that see that older 'LO and they like... unfazed, but show em a BIG ASS HORSEY and they Go bananas!!! It kinda reminds me of today's youth and today's rap music...(but thats ANOTHER STORY) either way, the suicide was THAT PIECE..

I love when the underdog wins, I love when the cat that can produce, but can't rap, (according to Jay) still wins as a known Rapper....I love when the sneaker companies give non-athletes sneaker deals. When I say non-athletes, I mean Entertainers, when I say entertainers, I mean Rappers...Like Jay Z and Reebok, 50 cent and Reebok, or better yet, like KanYeezy and nike...Thing is, alot of rappers Can play ball, and alot of ballers Can Rap. However, you gotta go where your the most talented at.

As much as people called them ugly, I have always LOVED nike Air Yeezys. I mean, they're like an Air Revolution, Air jordan hybrid, sprinkled with some of Yeezy's artistic thoughts. Take away the costly price tag (I think they start out at $250) and the exclusivity of em (this is NOT A FOOT LOCKER, DR JAYS, OR UR MOM & POP STORE SNEAKER) I probably would've owned a pair.

Enter lil Nate Robinson (of the Chicago Bulls). I call him Lil, because at 5'9, he still was able to Dunk over Dwight Howard in the Slam Dunk contest a few years back, and might I add, the 'kryptonite' foams he was rockin, Sold out in a matter of hours... Now, since I don't really watch sports, I get to see the pics from the games, and the most interesting pic, I'm seeing on the internet, this week, is the pic of Nate, wearing a pair of Air Yeezy 2s in a game....WHO KNEW? Who knew that the Air Yeezys were ballin sneakers. I mean, I don't ball, and if I did, I definately wouldn't wear my Jordans, or any sneaker I paid $2 hunned and change for. Apparently, thats Not Nate's problem. He was able to get busy in the Yeezys...I looked on the internet, and found out, that this wasn't the FIRST time he rocked Yeezys to play ball. ***just youtube Nate Robinson wears Yeezys****... so while NBA players are wearin Js, their own signature sneaker, or a sneaker thats made for balling purposes, it feels good to see, a baller wearing a rapper's sneaker. and This, is the stuff I LOVE....

NOW, you can risk a lengthy line stand waitin for them Js or you can get down to KITH NYC and step to the new Bals...or you can do BOTH, its up to you. either way, there looks to be some nice kicks comn this spring & summer...

Real Talk....This past Sunday Superbowl was the lonnngest I ever watched a football game. For real. Not a fan. Not a sports fan. Likes sneakers, like fitteds, even like jerseys...but not a sports fan. Superbowl is always fun because of the parties, the fun crowds, the drinks, the commercials, the Half time show...ESPECIALLY IF IT INVOLVES BEYONCE!!!!! Fresh off her so called lip synching at the prez' inauguration, Bey came back to wreck shit...she even brung out her Destiny Child homies...Now, they were never, super duper thick, but Bey was the thickest out all of em...Michelle, has always been bony, and Kelly, well, not boney, but super slim...she went & got sum fake boobs to go wit that slimness...but this Sunday, somethin was a lil different...Bey done thickened up, and so did Kellz!!!! they all wore black outfits, not the exact same outfit, but all black, showin enough skin to keep the eyes focused. even though there were plenty of lights (that just happen to go out after Bey was finished) dancers, special effects, I bet, the eyes were focused on the Bey & Kellz thick out...
