Soooo HOW WAS UR WKND (JAN 20-21st)
What you did this past weekend? when you had that extra day off for the MLK holiday? Me, I did nothing. However, there were a few places, I wouldn't have MIND being. There was the Inauguration of our president Barack Obama, to his 2nd term, in Washington D.C., now I probably wouldn't have got as close to see the actual swearing in....but at least I would've been in the place to be. It was a good look though, for us as a people, for the nation, for the whole USA...Good Look for Rap Royalty Jay Z & Beyonce (aka the Carters) ...Even though, she DON'T rap, she's married to a rapper. She did sing the National Anthem. Some people are suggesting she lip synced it, Me, I don't care.. What matters is, she was there and her rapper husband was there with her. Many HATE JAY...hell, many HATE BEY...but If you have the $$$ to help contribute to the prez's campaign and you get to hang out with him on Inauguration day, wouldn't that be Great? (i mean thats a long way from Eazy E hanging ONLY eating dinner wit Bush)Overall, the whole weekend of the Inauguration, the parties, the events, its just a big thing, you know.....
Another Big thing, I wouldn't have mind being at, was the celebration, of the LO-LIFES' 25th anniversary, kicked off with the LO END THEORY(brought to you by dalaspenn.com) at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC...Followed up by the LO GOOSE ON THE DEUCE event later that night...on, where else, forty-deuce, times square. For those who just started wearing Polo Ralph Lauren a couple years ago, and think your shining with a horsey shirt, THINK AGAIN!!! I been wearing 'lo for at least 20 years, and through the influence of Lo Lifes I seen, met, in High School, it was a no brainer to rock these fancy threads, and TRUST, the horsey was the LAST THING I WANTED TO WEAR....There were sooooo many different symbols , pieces, sweaters, accessories...from p wings to cross flags, from unis to sportsman knits... ahhh man, the nostalgia of it all...Of course, as we all know, the hip hop culture is infused with fashion, and with all the fashion trends that rocked, from Adidas w/no laces, to Cazals without the lenses, 8-ball jackets, nike suits, gore-tex ski coats, just fly gear in general, you couldn't really talk hip hop culture/fashion without talkin POLO RALPH LAUREN.. and the subculture of LO in itself. Rae knew what he was talkin bout wit the line "Same Damn LO sweater..." As a self-professed 'old head' that don't wanna really leave the 90s...its still good to see MY peoples still doin the thing. Still collecting vintage pieces, and showing em off. Mix the LO with hip hop and you got the LO END THEORY...
The 'Lo-End Theory is a celebration of the importance that Polo Ralph Lauren clothing holds within Hip-Hop. In this continuity no years rings louder than 1992 (our ticket price). This was Polo Ralph Lauren's 25th anniversary. Most Hip-Hop Polo heads would agree there was no greater year in the designs of this brand....ADD in hip hop artists like ROC MARCIANO, BUCKSHOT, SEAN PRICE, THIRSTIN HOWL THE 3RD, RACK LO, TIMELESS TRUTH, and you got yourself one hell of a show....
Every Great entree is followed by a bangin dessert, so later after the show, Lo enthusiasts, collectors, photographers, journalists, bloggers, Lo-Lifes and Lo-Wives, as well as the RLPC (aka the Time Machine Crew) flocked to the deuce, to kick it, conversate, politic, deal, sell, and just take pics of their wears in the LOve of LO at the LO GOOSE ON THE DEUCE event...Imagine the entire Ralph Lauren clothing catalog, old and new, waking around in Times square, 42nd street, blocks away from the famous stores that carry the brand. Nobody is mad, nobody is beefing, nobody is mean muggin and nobody is actin like they too fly to take pics...like a Woodstock, with POLO, at night, in January, in the COOOLLLLDDD.. Even if you weren't there (like yours truly) you can go online and see pics of the events...BOTH of em. Thats where I got my pics. so feast your eyes and enjoy....
